ADA, OKLA. – Konawa High School Senior Will Neurauter has officially signed with East Central University’s Esports program, becoming the first student recruited directly to ECU through its expanding competitive gaming initiative. This milestone marks a significant step forward for both schools and highlights the growing role of Esports in educational pathways.
ECU Tiger Esports Director Cody Soden and Konawa Esports Coach Brandon Preston have spent the past two years developing a bridge between the two programs—one that now demonstrates real success. Neurauter, inspired by ECU’s esports program and its support for academic success, found a collegiate home for his passion and performance in Esports.
“This is a huge first for Konawa, ECU, and the community,” said Soden. “Esports is now a sport that can begin in high school and carry students into college.”
Preston also commented on the precedent set by the collaboration between ECU and Konawa High School, saying, "We at Konawa are so excited for Will and this amazing opportunity for him and his family and this pipeline between ECU and Konawa. I’m looking forward to continuing to work with Cody for years to come."
Neurauter will join the ECU Tiger Esports program in Fall 2025 on scholarship, contributing to a growing roster of student-athletes competing in the Great American Conference and National collegiate conferences. The partnership between Konawa and ECU reflects a shared commitment to recognizing the academic and career potential within the Esports industry.
