When the East Central University Tigers kick off the 2019 football season this fall, fans will enjoy a new and magnificent state-of-the art video scoreboard affixed to the south end of Norris Field at Koi Ishto Stadium.

With the efforts of ECU President Katricia G. Pierson and Ada Coca-Cola Bottling Company, fans attending games at ECU’s Koi Ishto Stadium will enjoy a new $310,000-plus video scoreboard. When the university was renewing its contract with the Ada Coca-Cola Bottling Company earlier this year an agreement was reached to add this video scoreboard sponsorship opportunity for football fans.

“We are pleased to continue our close relationship with the Crabtree family and Ada Coca-Cola. They have been a valued supporter of the university in so many ways and for so many years. Their monumental contribution toward the installation of the new video scoreboard is evidence of their generosity and love for ECU,” said Pierson.

The entire unit is 24 feet, 6 inches tall and 30 feet wide with the video screen being 17 feet, 6 inches tall and the width occupying the entire board. The scoreboard with score, clock, downs, yardage and timeouts will be located directly underneath the video screen and the Ada Coca-Cola Bottling advertisement sign is below the score portion to round out the bottom. A decorative 4-foot tall black truss, with centered orange ECU letters, adorns the top.

Also included in the unit are two new play clocks (one for each end of the field) along with a fixed digit scoreboard located on the north end of the stadium. Video along with replays, graphics and animation are available on the main portion of the unit and a three-camera setup will enable three live game angles.

The renewing of the contract between ECU and Ada Coca-Cola should pay off for both parties, according to Pierson.

“We found that this was creative way in which some alumni can give back to the university in a way which helps us both,” Pierson said. “They’re getting the advertising and we’re getting this beautiful new video scoreboard. I’m very excited because the technology with the new board will enhance the fan experience. I think it will help elevate football into a realm that we haven’t experienced before.”

The old scoreboard was dismantled on June 24 with the new board going up promptly.

The Tigers are set to launch the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 5, against Northwestern Oklahoma State University at 6 p.m.

“East Central Football is very excited to unveil our two new scoreboards for the 2019 season and look forward to the benefits beyond,” said ECU Head Football Coach Al Johnson. “These scoreboards are another step in moving our program forward for the entire university, alumni, players and recruits while greatly enhancing the fan experience at games. Again, we want to thank Ada Coca-Cola and the Crabtree family for their continued support of East Central University.”
