A. Faye Nix, An art student at East Central University, will display her senior exhibit, "Incorporeal," at KT's Body Art, 802 E. Main, May 1 and 2 [FRIDAY-SATURDAY]. The exhibit will be open from noon until 10 p.m. and a reception will be held at 7 p.m. May 2. Several works will be available for purchase.
Nix is a local artist who features a blend of anatomical studies with ghostly figures in her paintings. Her works are primarily acrylic with India ink elements.
The current exhibit will consist of a dozen or so works featuring medical drawings of bone structures that are taken from anatomy books and teaching skeletons. Some paintings are meant to focus just on the bone group while some feature subtle emotional elements that are open to interpretation. The incorporeal figures are painted with pale, thin layers of color that give off a ghastly feeling and allow them to be almost transparent at times.
"A lot of white or pale color goes into the paintings to give them a spectral glow," Nix said of her techniques.
Nix has exhibited previously at Momentum Oklahoma City, Momentum Tulsa and the Canvas Art Show and the Horror Art Show, both in Oklahoma City.
